IT'S A FACT WE are More Beautiful When We Are Kind

It’s a Fact, We are More Beautiful When We Are Kind
@jastookes
"We encourage everyone to embrace this glow."

Being a nice person is a lot more than being pretty on the inside. Have you ever noticed that when a character in a movie portrays a “mean girl” she is somehow much less appealing, even if she is gorgeous by societal standards? While we are conditioned over and over to embrace capitalistic ideals of beauty the human psyche still comes back to kindness as a beauty standard, even though we can’t market it. We encourage everyone to embrace this glow.

In a phenomenon deemed the “halo effect” in this study on how personality affects attractiveness, we see that viewing someone as kind changes our perspective on how beautiful we find their facial features. Perhaps this comes from a selfish place of the viewer; we see someone who can benefit us or at the very least, not harm us, and that feeling of safety has a magnetic effect. But at Âmé we think it’s a little more than that.

Kindness may come naturally to some, while others have to work a bit harder at it. Either way you spin it, kindness is an attitude of choice. When you make that personal choice every day, you are not only benefiting those around you, but also improving your own quality of life. Many studies indicate that being kind has a direct effect on your level of happiness. That happiness, friends, is what really shines through.

When we spread our happiness through acts of kindness and warmth, we get a lit-from-within glow that no product on the market can achieve. It’s not just a theory, it’s science. Another study depicts that those who deem themselves happier had a directly contrasting level of wellness that manifested itself in radiant, beautiful skin. Spread love to achieve happiness and radiance—sounds like a win-win-win to us.

"at Âmé, we believe in truly graceful aging."

There is another, even more straight-forward correlation that joins kindness and happiness, and that is directly reflected in our facial expressions. It boils down to less-approachable-looking worry or frown lines versus congenial smile lines.

The term “anti-aging” is nebulous and inaccurate. We can’t be against the inevitable. But at Âmé, we believe in truly graceful aging. Embracing our bodies as we travel through earthly time, we can find harmony within ourselves (happiness) and others (kindness). The proof will manifest itself on our face.
