HOW TO STYLE Wide Legged Pants And Still Be Sexy

How to Style Wide Legged Pants and Still Be Sexy
@fusunlindner

Bigger doesn’t necessarily have to mean baggier. But sometimes it does, and that’s still okay! Maybe you’re in the mood for oversized, or maybe you’re just bloated and the idea of squeezing into unforgivingly fitted vintage denim makes you feel like a sausage being shoved into a mismatched casing. (Pro tip: Don’t do it. it’s not worth the poor circulation.)

While we’re all about showing the curves by finding tailored pieces that hug all the right places and accentuate our womanliness, a bold, oversized statement has its place, too. In fact, it can be very, very chic. If you’re not sure how to rock wide-legged jeans, pants, or trousers and still feel your fullest feminine expression, you’re not alone — it’s not always intuitive! Here are some of our favorite ways to wear this look.

Heels

Of course, heels make any look more feminine or dressy, but they especially kick things up a notch with a wide leg. For a more professional, boss-mode vibe, go for a pointy closed-toe heel. For an edgy feel, try a 90’s strappy kitten heel. We also love a heeled boot for a powerful statement.

Baby tee

If you still want to embrace a casual feel with a wide leg, a fitted baby tee is a great option. It’s effortless, sporty, and carefree, while embracing a youthful, cutesy feel. It’s a good contrast with the voluminous bottom half.

Silk

Silk always dresses things up a notch. Wear wide leg jeans to dinner, and pop on a fitted, backless silk blouse, a cowl neck silk tank, or a silk button-down tucked in for a polished and soft juxtaposition with your comfy, chic, oversized bottoms.

Button-up

While it might feel like you’re borrowing your dad’s clothes when pairing a big button-up with some wide-legged jeans or trousers, we’re not going to ask you to button it all the way up to the collar and tuck it into your Dockers. Wear it open and loose. Button only one or two crucial buttons, and leave the rest open. Let a little lace bra or midriff show, and slip on some chic slides, heels, or boots.

Fitted crop

When in doubt, always go for contrast. Since the bottoms are oversized, opt for a shrunken look on top to balance out the silhouette, and let everyone know there’s an hourglass in them jeans.

Leather

Edge up your look by throwing on a leather jacket, or even a leather top if you have one. We love a vintage leather blazer vibe for some structure that doesn’t lean too biker-chic.

Sneakers

This definitely brings us back to our grade-school days, but this time, much more put-together. Pair your favorite techy sneakers with your oversized trousers or denim for the ultimate casual, comfy, cool-girl vibe. Top off this look with any option: an oversized knit, leather blazer, baby tee, silk blouse, strappy crop, you name it. Wear a winged liner and beach waves, and you’re way beyond grade school.
